Benchmark: Noise
To find out how loud the chassis can get we're using a PCE-318 noise meter placed at the front of each chassis to take decibel readings with the system idling in two modes; low fan speed and high fan speed.
The P280 isn't one of the coolest chassis we've ever tested, but it is one of the quietest. And these results really make a world of difference.
Cooling performance with the fans at low speed is good, and at these settings the P280 is very, very quiet. Noise levels take a turn for the worse when fan speeds are cranked up (those upward-facing fan mounts were destined to leak noise), but the chassis can be kept suitably quiet.
