External Appearance

Unpacking the X11 reveals a sleek aluminium chassis that’s very big. With dimensions of 435mm x 155mm x 420mm it’s well overdue a diet and there’s no doubt it’s one of the biggest HTPC chassis we’ve ever seen.

Up front the X11 features a single optical drive bay on the right, under which you’ll find the external ports. On the left is the power button surrounded by the power indicator, in this case using blue LEDs to indicate status.

Of course, no HTPC in the current market would be complete without some form of visual display; in the case of the X11 a 2 x 16-character VFD is pre-fitted.

The display, which is accompanied by a branded Origen AE remote control, works as a digital clock in standby mode, and supports Windows XP Media Center Edition when up and running.
