Up front is an HDD cradle capable of swallowing up to five 3.5in hard drives.
It's secured in place with one large captive thumbscrew that's mounted on a spring to help prevent it coming undone.
With the captive screw undone – it doesn't come out - the latch for the top cradle can be depressed to allow the whole unit to slide out, exposing the plinth that it sits on.
There are four rubber dampeners in place for each drive bay – and they were good to see.
However, the cradle itself is less impressive. It's a single piece of aluminium bent into a rectangular shape. It has no braces and little rigidity and so will be relying on the HDDs to add some structural strength. Not a happy thought.
