Overclocking

Enticing the chips to run faster on all cores - remember that Ryzen 3s are unlocked - we dialled voltage at 1.4V and increased the multiplier until the processors could no longer complete Cinebench.

We weren't surprised to see the pair achieve the same final all-core frequency of 3.9GHz, intimating the savvy purchaser may as well opt for the cheaper Ryzen 3 1200 and overclock it themselves.

Single-thread performance doesn't improve as much because the boost speed of the Ryzen 3 1300X is already decent.

There's more of a gain for Cinebench, an application that stresses all cores. That said, Ryzen 3 simply cannot make up for that lack of SMT.

And you probably won't notice the extra horsepower for gaming, but every little helps.
