Benchmark Suite

CPU Benchmarks
HEXUS PiFast Our number-crunching benchmark stresses a single core by calculating Pi to 10m places
Cinebench R20 Using Cinebench's multi-CPU render, this cross-platform benchmark stresses all cores
HandBrake 1.2.2 Free-to-use video encoder that stresses all CPU cores (64-bit)
Blender 2.79b Using all available cores to run the BMW benchmark
Memory Benchmarks
AIDA64 Benchmark that analyses memory bandwidth and latency
System Benchmarks
3DMark Graphics benchmark run using the Time Spy test
PCMark System test using the standard preset
Civilization VI: Gathering Storm AI Test CPU test to determine turn speed
World of Tanks Graphics benchmark run at FHD to determine CPU involvement
Gaming Benchmarks
Civilization VI: Gathering Storm 1,920x1,080 2,560x1440, and 3,840x2,160, ultra settings
Forza Horizon 4 1,920x1,080 2,560x1440, and 3,840x2,160, ultra settings
Total War: Three Kingdoms 1,920x1,080 2,560x1440, and 3,840x2,160, ultra settings
World War Z 1,920x1,080 2,560x1440, and 3,840x2,160, ultra settings
Miscellaneous Benchmarks
Power Consumption To emulate real-world usage scenarios, we record system-wide mains power draw when idle, when rendering via Blender and while playing World War Z

Notes

We have added in the last-generation Ryzen 5 2600X's results to provide better context. Though cheaper, the Intel Core i5-9400 offers insight into how a six-core, six-thread chip performs against AMD's latest.

Asus has been releasing a number of BIOSes since launch. We have used the 0702 BIOS for Ryzen 5 3600X testing. It updates the AGESA to 1.0.0.3 and offers a touch more frequency and power.
