Notes

A couple of things. The Ryzen 5 3400G's IGP needs a motherboard with support for video outputs on the I/O section. That may seem straightforward, but the majority of enthusiast boards from AMD now ship without HDMI/DVI/DP. It makes sense to pair this chip with a decent B450 offering, as it usually has the required outputs for running the CPU alone.

Given the £140 street price, comparing against mainstream Intel chips can prove to be a mite tricky. Though £20 cheaper, our sample Core i3-8100 is a decent candidate, as it has baked-in graphics as standard, so this two-chip comparison ought to be interesting.
