3DMark Time Spy and Stress Test

Rendered at a 2,560x1,440 QHD resolution and making use of DX12 technologies such as asynchronous compute, explicit multi-adapter and multi-threading, Time Spy is a forward-looking 3DMark benchmark that hints at GPU potential in various upcoming games.

We have chosen to compare the FTW Ultra Silent to an AMD rival. Unfortunately, given the price premium on the RX Vega cards, due to mining, the 56 variant costs at least £100 more. We have used the reference card in this instance.

Eagle-eyed readers may notice that the scores are up around five per cent when compared to testing on the previous Core i7-6700K platform. Though we are using the latest drivers at the time of writing, most of this gain is down to the extra two cores and four threads of the Core i7-8700K. And that 4.8GHz all-core speed doesn't hurt in pushing up performance.

The upshot of the testing is that the GTX 1070 Ti is about 10 per cent faster in both resolutions. The 20-minute stress test indicates that the ACX 3.0 cooler is adept at keeping the performance consistent from run to run.
