Overclocking

Overclocking via an automated scanner isn't yet supported on Ampere GPUs, but MSI tells us an 'Ampere-ready' version of its popular Afterburner utility will be made available at a later date, with full support for OCScanner.

In the meantime, we've dialled the power target to its maximum of 102 per cent and managed stable core and memory clocks of up to 1,865MHz and 20,000MHz, respectively. It is interesting to note however that this implementation of Ampere appears to be operating close to the limit; just a further 10MHz was enough to trip-up the GPU.

It is possible to add a further few frames per second, but on a factory-overclocked card it hardly seems worth the effort unless you have more elaborate cooling in mind.
