Ryzen 9 3950X vs. Ryzen 9 5950X - CPU Matters

All of the primary testing is done on our reliable Ryzen 9 3950X machine. It's no secret that Ryzen 9 5950X is faster at lower resolutions thanks to the Zen 3 architecture and improved IPC.

It is reasonable to assume that many will be considering a Ryzen 5000 Series and Radeon 6000 Series combo which get the most out of each other.

We've thus benchmarked a number of titles at FHD, at exactly the same settings on the XT GPU, and plotted the R9 5950X's framerate advantage.

The improvement is highly dependant on the game engine but a few things stick out. Civ VI average framerate skyrockets, Gears 5 and SOTTR show healthy gains, and there's no situation where 5950X is slower. Food for thought if gaming is the primary concern.
