Just Cause 2 and Total War: Rome II
Just Cause 2 is one of the older titles in our suite and uses DX10 visuals. It's no longer cutting edge, but it's still a lot of fun and can be used to cross-reference older reviews.
Just Cause 2 is another game that poses no real threat to these high-end graphics cards. Notably, for the first time, the Radeon manages to sneak ahead of the GeForce.
There's once again little to separate the two, as both the GeForce and the Radeon deliver a fast and smooth experience.
Providing an excellent mix of strategy and action, Total War: Rome II's epic turn-based gameplay can swallow hours of your life.
Driver improvements / game optimisations really seem to have helped Nvidia's cause in Total War: Rome II. This particular title used to shine on AMD hardware, but MSI's GeForce GTX 780 Ti Gaming now has the edge over Sapphire's Radeon R9 290X Vapor-X.
In keeping with most of the games on show, the GeForce maintains a performance advantage. MSI's card executes out a greater percentage of sub-33ms frames and this small-but-measurable performance gap over the R9 290X is what allows the GeForce to fetch a price premium at retail.
