3DMark03 & Call of Duty
3DMark03
Vendor: Futuremark - (Website)API: DirectX 9.0
Pixel Shader Version Supported: Mix PS1.1, PS1.4, PS2.0
The darkest line represents AOpen Aeolus 6800 GT's performance at settings of 1024x768, 1024x768 4x antialiasing 8x anisotropic filtering, and 1600x1200 4x/8x. For fair comparisons, the GT should be compared with ATI's X800 PRO. Both hover at around the £300 mark and both play second fiddle to the more expensive Ultra and XT PE cards. Performance is pretty good. It still takes a while getting used to cards that crash through the 10,000-mark barrier at the default test. Even 1600x1200, with all the eye candy added, is reasonably smooth.
Call of Duty
Vendor: Activision - (Website)API: OpenGL
Pixel Shader Version Supported: PS1.1 class
NVIDIA's OpenGL performance is excellent. That's why AOpen's GT can comfortably beat out the £400 ATI X800 XT PE here. A GT will allow you to raise the image quality to the very highest levels with slightly older games. Further, the performance of the subsystem, even an AMD Athlon Model 3800+, directly affects benchmark results at the lowest setting; that's how powerful these cards are.
