Overclocking
Let's not beat around the bush here, Gigabyte's card is excellent for overclocking. The GPU on the GTX 980 Ti Xtreme Gaming WaterForce is cherry-picked for frequency headroom, and as such is begging to be given a nudge in the right direction.
With no added voltage and barely any effort, we quickly had boost frequency ramped-up to 1,441MHz and memory to an effective 8,400MHz. Useful numbers and our log files reveal that the overclock resulted in the core hitting 1,554MHz during real-world gameplay.
Yep, it's as easy as that to further increase performance by as much as 15 per cent and break the 5,000-point barrier in 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra.
Overclocking is an area in which Gigabyte's card has the upper hand over the Inno3D, and that's without any major tinkering. We're intrigued to see what hardened enthusiasts will manage with the extra six-pin power connector at their disposal.
