Gains to be had
The 6600 GTs have more to gain in absolute terms, than the 6800 GTs they're compared against. However, as we saw with Far Cry, the performance of a pair of SLI 6600 GTs is less than a single 6800 GT, negating its usefulness as an upgrade path at current price levels.
