The GeForce GTX 1050 may be of limited performance, yet it is proving popular with manufacturers and the ZenBook Pro is the third laptop in our line-up to come equipped with Nvidia's entry level solution. Performance, as expected, is in line with the Lenovo Legion Y520 and Acer Aspire VX 15 featuring the same GPU.

Asus describes the GPU as gaming-grade, but running a selection of modern titles suggests that your mileage will vary. Cranking image quality up to maximum settings can result in a choppy experience at the native 1080p resolution, and in most cases you are forced to revert to low/medium quality in order to maintain smooth gameplay. The ZenBook Pro UX550VD is ultimately a multimedia laptop with reasonable gaming potential.
