As expected, the synthetic 3DMark Time Spy test reveals that Radeon RX 580 (GL702ZC) is able to deliver graphics performance on a par with a GeForce GTX 1060 (GL702VM). The caveat, however, is that the higher-power AMD chip struggles to maintain peak frequencies, as evidenced by a Time Spy Stress Test result that falls short of the desired 97 per cent threshold.

Does a Ryzen 7 1600 deserve to be paired to a more potent GPU? Perhaps, yet when it comes to real-world gaming, the RX 580 makes a reasonable fist of things at the native 1080p resolution. Stick to medium/high quality settings and modern titles fall neatly into the FreeSync range.
