Benchmarks: System
The standard PCMark benchmark gauges system-wide performance for modern office tasks such as web browsing, video conferencing, editing spreadsheets and photo editing. PCMark 10 Extended goes further by adding gaming to the mix. The Ryzen-powered ThinkPad T495s is clearly a capable machine, and it has the beating of Intel equivalents when gaming is thrown into the mix.
7,992 is a new high in 3DMark Sky Diver, but how does the Radeon Vega 8 IGP bode in terms of real-world games? Well, don't expect a great deal of mileage at the native 1080p resolution. Using the lowest available presets for image quality, we were able to return an average of just 26 fps in Civilization VI: Gathering Storm, 19fps in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and 13fps in Total War: Three Kingdoms. Not exactly smooth, but the T495S can rightfully claim to offer casual gaming credentials, whereas the Intel competitors, for now, cannot.
