There's little to separate the 512GB drive in the T490s to the 256GB in the T495s; both offer lofty sequential read and write speeds in the region of 3,000MB/s and 1,500MB/s, respectively. Curiously, our Intel vs. AMD Microsoft Surface evaluation found the former to be better suited to a bombardment of small 4K transfers. The same is true of the two ThinkPads.
