Benchmarks: Display Colour
Lenovo's UK configuration options can be confusing at the best of times, but things get particularly strange when choosing a 14in display panel. Going by the official product page, the T490s is available with a choice of five screens, ranging from a basic 250-nit FHD solution to a 500-nit WQHD with Dolby Vision certification.
There's even an option for a touchscreen, however the specifications for the pre-configured AMD T495s (#20QJ000CUK) and Intel T490s (#20NX002QUK) vaguely state the inclusion of a "FHD IPS AntiGlare LED Backlight 1920x1080." You might think that both systems share the same default panel, but that isn't the case; the AMD T495s is outfitted with the basic 250-nit screen, while the Intel T490s employs a low-power 400-nit panel.
Complicating matters, our understanding is that each display type can be sourced from multiple vendors, so even if you buy the ready-to-ship Intel T490s 20NX002QUK, there's no guarantee you'll get the exact same panel. For the record, the display in our review unit is identified as an Innolux N140HCG-GQ2 and exhibits excellent out-the-box accuracy.
