NVIDIA responds to our review
Ben Berraondo, NVIDIA's GeForce EMEAI PR manager, provided the following HEXUS Right2Reply, and we quote it verbatim. Thanks to HEXUS for another exemplary review. I would like to address one point in particular as I know it can create confusion for many and that is the issue of content.
Like any newer technology, 3D has a reputation for a lack of content and while that has been the case, almost every day new content is being made available. Like so many other technologies, the PC really is leading the way in this regard. In addition to over 450 games that now support NVIDIA 3D Vision (and it really is worth trying all your games) and 3D Blu-Rays, of which more are being announced by the week, the internet means there’s even more 3D content available.
I’m a firm believer we’ll see games and streaming lead the way for 3D. For streaming we’ve already had the US PGA Tour Golf, French Open Tennis and NASCAR motor racing streamed over the internet and just this weekend, if the rain holds off, the US Open Tennis Final will be streamed live in 3D. Don’t forget Adobe Flash 10.2 and Microsoft Silverlight also will support/do support 3D content so more and more content is consistently announced!
Photography is another area where 3D is growing, Fujifilm, Sony and Panasonic are all now producing cameras capable of 3D Photography. Fujifilm’s great 3D compact, the W1, is getting a follow up, the W2, later on this year and Sony’s NEX Cameras and new Alpha A33 and A55 support panoramic 3D shooting for some truly ‘wow moment’ pictures.
Finally as Parm alluded to in his review, these laptops can be used for so much more as a home hub for 3D. Very soon NVIDIA 3DTV Play will be here meaning you can enjoy all this 3D content on a 3D TV via just a simple HDMI connection from the laptop to the TV. You even use the TV’s own glasses so no worrying about which hardware to use.
All-in-all this Acer notebook represents superb value for money and a great way to get into 3D safe in the knowledge that you’ll be future proofed to show this 3D content on new hardware.
