Benchmarks: Power Draw and Battery Life

Battery life tends to be a weak spot for many gaming laptops and the Vortex GT is no exception. To gauge real-world longevity, we loop a 720p movie clip with 50 per cent screen brightness and all wireless radios disabled. In this scenario, the PC Specialist system managed to keep going for exactly four hours while relying on the Intel IGP for video playback duties.

A four-hour run time might be more than most gamers are accustomed to, yet it falls short of our expectations of a modern-day laptop. Today's PCs should be managing six hours at the very least, we feel.
