AquaMark3, UT2003, Call Of Duty

AquaMark3 is another example of the graphics card being forced to do the majority of the work. It was gratifying to see all the shader effects being applied to a mobile laptop. As expected, the m:855's results aren't in the general vicinity of the desktop Radeon 9600XT's. That card has just too much oomph to be challenged by a current mobile accelerator.

Here's another interesting benchmark. We use a custom bot test at 800x600 to primarily evaluate motherboard and CPUs. The bot nature of the test forces the CPU and subsystem to do most of the work. That's why we see a huge performance delta between battery and mains results. So much so that the comparison Dell 5150 FX Go5200 sneaks above the battery-powered Voodoo PC laptop.

The converse is true in the other UT2003 test we employ for graphics card evaluation. The high-detail nature puts a massive load on the graphics adapter. Performance just depends upon the kind of gaming that's required.

Call Of Duty's high-detail test shows roughly the same pattern.
