Conclusion

...Aorus has refreshed its 13.9in laptop with a GeForce GTX 970M GPU that delivers the best mobile gaming experience we've seen on a system of this size.

Keeping up with the latest developments in PC graphics, Aorus has refreshed its 13.9in laptop with a GeForce GTX 970M GPU that delivers the best mobile gaming experience we've seen on a system of this size.

With a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of fast DDR3 memory and dual SSDs, performance is excellent in practically every regard, and thanks to a lush IGZO QHD+ display, the X3 Plus v3 would have no trouble in doubling as your primary workstation.

There's plenty to like, but as it often the case, a couple of niggles prevent this latest revision from reaching perfection. Fan noise is still an issue, battery life has barely improved, and the decision to downgrade the storage interface from M.2 to mSATA is puzzling. And, perhaps more importantly, at £1,799 the newest X3 Plus is a fair bit pricier than its predecessor.

Bottom line: the Aorus X3 Plus remains an attractive option for enthusiast gamers seeking mobile thrills in a thin, portable form factor. Sub-14in laptops don't come much faster than this.
