Benchmarks: System and Gaming

Whichever way you look at it, a 14in laptop with a quad-core Intel Skylake processor, 16GB of DDR4 memory, SSD storage and a GeForce GTX 970M GPU is going to be a nippy performer. The system feels quick during everyday workloads and doesn't shy away from more demanding activities.

The GTX 970M is a good match for a full-HD display and, with a 3DMark score of 6,759, should make light work of churning out modern games in excess of 60 frames per second.

We've benchmarked a few titles at the laptop's native 1080p resolution and, as expected, the GTX 970M proves to be a capable performer. All three titles are playable even with maximum image-quality settings, though we did need to dial things down a notch in order to achieve the 60fps target in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Total War: Rome II.
