Gaming performance
The difference between comparison laptop systems will be most pronounced when looking at gaming. Rock Quaddra's 128MB Mobility RADEON isn't a poor laptop video card by any means, but the latest iteration of NVIDIA (and ATI) mobile GPUs, complete with 8-pixel pipeline setups, make it look ordinary. Also note the relatively small increase when looking at MR 9600 64MB and MR 9700 128MB's results.
More of the same in our high-detail Unreal Tournament 2003 test. Recent mobile graphics card performance increases have mirrored their desktop counterparts'.
It's unfair to look at video performance in a laptop costing £350 more, really, but you can see just where some of the money goes.
Comanche 4, on the other hand, is more reliant on subsystem power when tested at 1024x768. This is another occasion where the use of a super-fast CPU pays handsome dividends.
