Power users and so-called megataskers will naturally be drawn to X299 and the promise of 10 cores, 20 threads, but for gamers the decision isn't clear cut. Core i7-7900X can be faster in some titles that are optimised for many cores, but the small in-game performance uplift doesn't correlate to the massive price increase over a regular Kaby Lake chip.
