The Intel platform performs faster at encoding, drawing on one of the strengths of the Core 2 architecture, but AMD isn't all that far behind.




Intel is again slightly ahead in CINEBENCH, but AMD is even closer in performance in this benchmark. Switching to 64-bit mode sees the difference shrink further.





In POV-ray Intel pulls out the win in 32-bit mode, but AMD manages to push ahead in 64-bit mode when macro-op fusion cannot help the Intel chip increase its performance.

Generally, the similarly-priced AMD and Intel chips seem to perform on a par, with each having strengths in different areas.
