Benchmarks II
Let's jump to something that interests many of us, DVD encoding. We're using XMPEG v4.2a together with DivX 5.0 CODEC to encode a section of the Three Kings DVD. 720x576 resolution, with the black bars cropped, no sound is encoded. The average frame rate is taken after 20,000 frames have been encoded.
At 1600MHz / 100FSB, the 845E Max2 is more-or-less tied with the ABIT IT7 with respect to performance. At 2133MHz / 133FSB, the 845E once again falls slightly behind the other two motherboards. I'm not overly concerned with the performance delta, though.
Next up is the OcUK SETI benchmark, one with an Angle Ratio of 0.471, this one takes a while to complete.
SETI is an activity that thrives on pure bandwidth, the results seem to mirror that as the SiS645DX, equipped with PC2700 memory at 100FSB, takes a decisive lead over the two I845E-based motherboards. At 133FSB (2133MHz), with memory running at 177MHz (133 x 1.33), the I845E 'boards sneak a small advantage as the 645DX is only able run memory at 166MHz (133 x 1.25).
How does it fare in PCMark 2002 ?
Just as one would expect. Note again that the top three scores are all at 2133MHz / 133FSB whilst the bottom three are at 1600MHz / 100FSB.
