Comanche 4 and Pifast
Like the XP2200+ walking away with it on Aquamark, 2.4B flips things around for the P4 systems as the stronger CPU for Comanche 4. So how does the EPoX do when compared to the other 2 performers? On top in all but the 1280x1024 test, it's overall the quickest board as far as Comanche 4 is concerned and carries another mini victory home for EPoX which may just add up to something when the dust has settled. Not the most interesting of graphs since performance is identical across the board on all the P4 systems. Calculating Pi to 10 million decimical places is a test for any computation engine, never find the FPU unit of a modern day x86 implementation such as the P4 or Athlon XP. CPU performance is king here so don't look for much variation between the two systems as we hammer the FPU performance of the processors. The chipset makes little difference. A susprise 2nd bottom placing for the 4G4A+ here, something I wasn't expecting when putting the graph together. It's less than 2 seconds between first and last place and a variance of 2% over the whole group means that again, real world performance is identical. So strong 3D performance from the EPoX but a sluggish start to the non 3D tests. How will that carry over to our final set of benchmarks? |
