Benchmarks II

The benchmark bonanza continues with 3DMark 2001SE. Rebranding is all the rage today. Now it's Futuremark and not Mad Onion. When will we see 3DMark 2003 ??. Anyway, back to the present.

PC1066 RAMBUS is good for benchmarking. The massive bandwidth on offer translates into a 500-mark lead over the competing DDR-based motherboards. The SOYO does pretty well for a motherboard that runs the test CPU at 2972MHz. A compare URL is here.

Will Serious Sam: The Second Encounter find the SOYO wanting ?. Run at 1024x768x32 Normal preferences.

Apparently not. It's comforting to think that the four DDR-based motherboard over three chipsets are distanced by less than a single FPS. RAMBUS, naturally, takes a reasonable lead here.

A fun-packed helicopter mission is the setting of the system-taxing Comanche 4 benchmark. Will it tax the SOYO any ?. Run at 1024x768x32 again.

Another strong showing from our test motherboard. The days of competing chipsets differentiated by 10%+ is well and truly over.
