SATA and USB 3.0 tests
We attach a freshly-formatted Samsung 830 Series 256GB to the remaining SATA6Gbps port and conduct the speed tests.
Both boards put out over 500MB/s in the sequential read benchmark. The close proximity of results isn't surprising as the duo use Intel's native SATA controllers.
Gigabyte shades the write test, too.
USB 3.0 tests involve plugging a Corsair Voyager GT 64GB drive into a rear USB 3.0 port.
Again, and as expected, nothing much to write home about here. We also tested the drive's performance on the VIA-provided controller; the benchmark result was within 1.5 per cent of what's published above.
