Benchmarks I

SiSoftware's SANDRA first. Maligned by many, we still feel that its unbuffered memory benchmark affords us a reasonable indication of probable performance.

The IS7 is running at the same overall speed as the IC7-G Canterwood, yet it falls a little away in this benchmark. A sign of things to come ?.

It seems as if memory turnaround isn't quite as quick as the Canterwood's. We continue to be startled by the sheer speed of ASUS' Springdale board.

This benchmark is better suited to cross-platform analysis. Crunching U2's Pop album into 192kb/s MP3 format can be done in around 3 minutes of cutting-edge machines.

We're still looking at the wrong side of 2 hours for our SETI benchmark. Again, the keys to this benchmark are a) pure CPU speed b) lots of memory bandwidth and c) low latency bandwidth. Those three determinants should help explain why the IS7 is at the bottom of this illustrious pile, although bottom place is still a sub-2:20 clocking.
