Memory tests and single-threaded app. performances

P965 features memory controller tweaks compared to i975X, under the banner of Fast Memory Access, meaning that with identical memory modules and timings, P965 should outrun the i975X MCH which is positioned above it in terms of performance.

Memory Bandwidth

The MSI comes out on top by a shade, beating the Bad Axe and the DQ6 to the post. You'll see that trend throughout as we show you the rest of the results.

Memory Access Latency

When we tested the Gigabyte DQ6 it didn't do well in terms of access latency but the MSI certainly turns that around, running as it is with the same modules and the same chipset at the same timings. It's less than a percent away from i975X, too.

HEXUS Pifast

We use our in-house Pifast test as the proof that memory subsystem and CPU are working properly.

MSI matches Giga for speed, both trailing the Bad Axe by a percent.
