Overclocking And Power Consumption
These numbers are arguably more important than examining the basic chipset speed. Both boards are set to 1.275V in their respective BIOSes. Asus is able to overclock the CPU 80MHz higher - at the same speed the Gigabyte reboots on occasion.
Here's a big difference. Try as we might - and we did try - the Gigabyte wouldn't run the Corsair Vengeance LPX 2,800 memory at its native speed. Gigabyte is aware of this issue and we hope to have a revised BIOS soon. Asus' OC Socket may be paying dividends in this instance.
Gigabyte is a little more power efficient than Asus, perhaps, we're guessing, due to actual under-load voltage being a little lower than in the BIOS.
