Both AM3+ 970 chipset boards delivered similar levels of CPU performance. From a multi-core perspective the FX-8350 and MSI 970 gaming motherboard combination costs around £200 and performs reasonably closely to an Intel Core i7-4790K on a Z97 motherboard, where the CPU retails for £275 on its own.
