Introduction

In the fourth quarter of 2006, NVIDIA released the GeForce 8800 GTX with the usual fanfare. That wasn't the only NVIDIA release that day, though; something less glamorous and more mainstream was also unleashed.

This part, the nForce 680i SLI, was a new core logic for Intel's LGA775 processors. Although it was designed to take on Intel's i975X chipset, it's an expensive bit of kit. On launch the 680i SLI boards cost almost £200, and even now retail examples cost upwards of £150.

Fortunately, for those who are interested in cutting-edge performance, NVIDIA has made a cut-down version of the nForce 680i SLI. This new LT version costs around £30 less than the fully fledged board, and we've received the brand spanking new EVGA nForce 680i LT SLI for review. So how does it stand up to its bigger and more expensive sibling? Read on and find out.
