Crunching wave files into MP3 is greatly helped by clock speed. 3.6GHz of Prescott power is enough to outcrunch a 2.2GHz Athlon 64 CPU.
Media encoding has always been a strongpoint for Inte's Pentium 4 CPUs. That's in evidence here.
Although Raytracing is AMD's domain. It's not even close, either.
