CPU Tests

Moving onwards, lets now take a look at a few CPU-based tests, to see how well a CPU is allowed to do its thing on the motherboard in question. First up, Kribibench.

Kribibench v1.1

Another close run thing, but yet again the KN1 Extreme outdoes EPoX's nForce 3 offering but finds itself a little behind the EQS solution.

LAME MP3 Encoding

Results are usually very close here due to this benchmark being strictly CPU limited, but surprisingly we find the KN1 Extreme a few seconds off the pace of the other two boards here.

Realstorm

Realstorm is a test which makes use of raytracing in real-time - Functionality that can't be hardware accelerated on a GPU, so thus all the work is done on the CPU.

Not a lot to choose between the three motherboards, but again we find ourselves with an ECS sandwich as the KN1 Extreme sits in-between the other two boards in the performance stakes.
