Performance - Part II

Brightness and contrast

A listed brightness of 320 nits is slightly exceeded in testing and the contrast ratio of 650:1 is typical of what our consumer-grade Spyder 4 Elite can detect. An interesting note is the colour temperature deviates from 6500K, generally accepted as the best colour temperature for a display. Users will have to opt for the warm preset to get closest to 6500K.

Testing reveals the top part of the panel is about 10 per cent brighter than the bottom half, although the gradient is gradual enough for it to go unnoticed.

Power Consumption

Power consumption is correlated with both resolution and panel size so the LG 34UM67 actually turns out to be a bit of a power-guzzler. After calibration to 120 nits the figure is a more manageable sub-30W.
