Performance - Part II

Brightness and contrast

Contrast figures of 600:1 are fairly average but it is possible to improve contrast further using the OSD settings.

Acer seems to have done a better job at implementing granular W-LED backlight controls since each 25 per cent interval of brightness delivers a corresponding change in brightness levels - LG's 34UC97 produced almost no change in brightness between 0 and 50 per cent in the OSD.

Input latency

Total input latency was the lowest (best) we had recorded for a QHD-class display, so don't let the IPS moniker fool you - this is a responsive monitor for gaming.

Power consumption

Given the similarities between the XR341CK and LG 34UC97 we expected similar power envelopes yet the Acer XR341CK was almost 20W more efficient. With calibration we saw power consumption as low as sub-30W, which is impressive for the size and resolution.
