Wired, USB and Efficiency

There's always an argument that Wi-Fi shouldn't be relied upon as the heart of a home network. If at all possible, consider running cables from the Gigabit Ethernet jacks for a more consistent experience.

Attach a USB 3.0 storage device and the RT2600ac, with Synology's software experience, transforms into a useful NAS. Surprisingly, performance isn't quite as impressive as we'd hoped, with our external SSD managing read and write speeds of 310Mbit/s and 282Mbit/s, respectively.

A more powerful set of hardware components needn't mean heightened power consumption. Synology has clearly made an effort to ensure the RT2600ac serves as an eco-friendly solution, as it's the second most-efficient router on show.
