Wired, USB and Efficiency

Not entirely comfortable putting complete faith in wireless performance? Then consider running cables from any of the four available Gigabit Ethernet jacks.

Attaching a USB storage drive can allow modern routers to serve as a make-shift NAS, serving data to all connected devices. We're using a USB-attached SSD for our benchmarks and the VR2600 is evidently optimised for read performance, delivering a data transfer rate of 579Mbit/s.

An upgraded 1.4GHz processor and more powerful dual-band antennas don't translate to heightened power consumption. Our trusty watt mater reveals that the VR2600 is, in fact, a fraction more efficient than last year's VR900.
