Benchmarks: Power and Noise

Power consumption during use is what we'd expect for a NAS box running high-performance drives, yet the at-the-wall reading drops to just eight watts when the drives enter sleep. For those planning on installing a server in a quiet environment, it's worth noting that the dual-fan DS918+, tested using the quiet preset, is more audible than most. We wouldn't go as far as to call it noisy, but the NAS can be heard at all times and the plastic drive trays don't do a great job of soaking up vibration when the disks are hard at work.
