Benchmarks II

Certain storage benchmarks can trip-up certain drives, and as was the case with the FireCuda 510, the dynamic SLC cache available to Seagate's newer PCIe Gen 4 model doesn't appear to play well with Diskbench. PCMark also recognises little real-world advantage to the faster interface, and though game-loading time is improved in Final Fantasy XIV, there's not a lot in it.

These are early days for PCIe Gen 4 solutions, and we're intrigued to see how the technology progresses in the months ahead, yet while the sequential throughput numbers suggest a healthy performance uplift, it is debatable whether or not users would currently notice any meaningful difference during everyday use.
