Benchmarks: Gaming
Titan Xp's full complement of 3,840 shaders is a star attraction for gamers seeking the best of the best, and the numbers don't lie. Scan's 3XS Carbon Xp delivers the highest single-GPU Fire Strike score we've seen to date, and this is the first single-GPU system to smash the 10,000-barrier in Time Spy.
In the past, reduced IPC and limited overclocking headroom prevented HEDT from being a prime choice for gaming. On X299 that no longer applies. The Scan machine's Core i9 and Titan Xp combination makes light work of ultra-high-res gameplay, and though Nvidia's best consumer GPU is designed as a gaming solution first and foremost, it has plenty of general-purpose potential, too.
A couple of quick tests found that Titan Xp was able to complete the famous BMW benchmark in Blender quicker than the Core i9 CPU to the tune of 35 per cent, and Aida64's GPGPU benchmark measures AES-256 encryption performance at 41,699MB/s - that's 60 per cent higher than a GeForce GTX 1080. Adding to the intrigue, Nvidia has recently introduced a new Titan Xp driver that magically unlocks a threefold performance increase in certain professional applications.
