Benchmarks: Gaming
CPU, memory and storage performance is, as expected, impressive, but what about the GeForce GTX 950? A Score of 5,111 in 3DMark Fire Strike isn't anything to write home about by today's standards. Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1050 Ti successor is rumoured to be arriving this month, but to give you an idea of how graphics have progressed, the readily available GeForce GTX 1060 scores over 11,000 in this same test.
What really matters is in-game performance and while the GTX 950 can drive modern titles, it will only get you so far. Sticking to the ubiquitous 1080p resolution, the likes of Dirt Rally, Hitman, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Total War: Warhammer are all playable, but quality settings need to be dialled down to medium in order to get a smooth experience.
Averaging 60fps is easier said than done, and higher resolutions are of course out of the question, but the Brix Gaming UHD does have the ability to tame a 75W GPU. The system sailed through a 3DMark Stress Test with a 99.5 per cent pass rate and the fact that core frequency barely moved during our benchmarks bodes well for an inevitable GTX 1050 Ti model.
