Positioning

On to more positive matters, we ask how TFC is positioning itself in the market. "The Foundry Company will undergo a comprehensive branding process over the next 60-90 days as we prepare to launch the company," says Grose, who had a long career in the manufacturing arm of IBM before joining AMD in early 2007.

"We see a number of key strengths and differentiators that TFC can bring to market but first and foremost it starts with our people.  We have a high-performance workforce comprised of the best, brightest and most well-educated people in the US and Europe for semiconductor manufacturing and technology development.

"We build on this with a deep commitment to investing in leading-edge technology.  We will continue to push the envelope on process technology and early stage research as part of the IBM technology development alliance.  With the formation of the Foundry Company we'll extend these capabilities into both bulk and SOI silicon with IBM and their partner eco-system.
