To relocate to Boulder, Colorado?

The boss of Staffordshire public sector SI and reseller Stone Computers, James Bird, has spoken to HEXUS.channel to confirm its acquisition of Rock Group plc, which went into administration twelve days ago.

“We exchanged with Deloitte as of 6pm yesterday,” said Bird. “I have known Rock chief executive Nick Boardman for ten years so I was very familiar with the business. There are huge synergies to be had as Stone has started to develop its own brand of notebooks.

“The Rock brand will continue and be the face of the mobile side of Stone Computers. Nick Boardman will join the Stone board as director of mobile technologies. This is a great opportunity to drive the Rock brand in the public sector – Stone’s traditional strength – as well as the consumer market.

Asked what this move says about Stone Computers’ overall strategy, Bird said: “Our group strategy is one of acquisition and this will be the first of many. When we completed our management buy-out on the 4th April we gained a funder in the form of RJD Partners and we have the funds for further acquisitions.
