Chasing consumers
Best known for its business laptops, Lenovo has continued its push into the consumer market with the launch of its “IdeaCentre” consumer desktop brand. This is the first time it has offered consumer desktops outside of China.
The first product is called the IdeaCentre K210 and features some new technology including VeriFace facial recognition, which apparently recognises the user’s face to provide extra security. There is also Bright Vision, which adjusts the brightness of a monitor depending on how far it detects the user is from it.
Lenovo’s key spec list is as follows:
• Intel Core 2 Quad Processors
• Intel GMA 3100 integrated graphics
• Blueray HD-DVD Combo accommodates home theater
• High definition audio 5.1 for reverberating sound
• Gamers will love the optional upgrade to ATI Radeon 2600
XT (512MB)
Having announced it as a global launch, right now it only seems to be available in the US, with base units starting at $379 including a mail-in rebate.
