MSI Wind and Asus Aspire One

On to the MSI Wind, we spoke to product marketing manager Richard Stewart and he told us: “Any stock that we get in is gone by the next day.” It looks like they got in some white ones on 1st July, some black ones at the end of last week and now they’re not expecting another shipment until the end of the month.

We can also expect a special edition in early August, which is basically a funky case design along the lines of the ones we spotted at Computex. Pressed on the kind of numbers MSI has shifted so far, Stewart could only say: “It’s still in the four figures range.”

Again the Wind is pretty tough to find, but Ebuyer had four on offer last time we looked. Stewart asserts that plenty of other etailers have had them but must have sold out.

Lastly, we have the Acer Aspire One. When we spoke to Acer UK marketing manager Adam Westley earlier in the week, he said we should expect to start seeing the Aspire One during the week commencing 21st July.

PC World doesn’t seem to have got the memo, however, as it’s offering the Aspire One as an exclusive on pre-order with a release date of 12th July – this Saturday. Amusingly, in the ‘similar products’ section it offers the Advent 4211 which, as we know, is a rebadged MSI Wind.
