Display of defiance

Taiwanese display maker Hannstar, which makes the Hannspree and Hanns.G brands of TV and monitor respectively, has denied recent reports that it’s closing all of its manufacturing operations.

In a statement it said: “The news in the market that the production company for the brands Hannspree and Hanns.G will be closed, is incorrect. Hannstar has closed its ‘Hannstar Technologies’ division which is a very small part of its assembly operations. Hannstar itself was surprised about the news as only one of six works for assembling will actually be closed. All five other factories in Taiwan and China will go on without any restriction.”

Hannstar President, David Joe, offered further clarification. “We have decided to outsource the production of Hannspree Style Line TVs because it will result in more cost effective and efficient production”, he said.

“This will allow us to deliver improved pricing and consistency of supply to our customer helping us to grow the brands, Hannspree and HannsG, and to continue our success-story. Europe is a very important market for us. We will continue to be present with our brands in Europe and we will keep on surprising our customers with new designs.”
